A large number of people in Patan area are employed in the metallic crafts industry which blends traditional skills and heritage of Newari culture with modern outlook. In the rapidly globalising world, this age old industry is facing new challenges, as other countries import this traditional technology and commercialise it.

Recognising this challenge, NIMS College faculties and students are working in what is called Patan Metal Crafts Innovation Lab to find solutions that can strengthen the stakes of metal craft industry people of Patan, Nepal.
