MA Sociology 1stSemester students are back to college after a 4-day long research camp (20-23 July 2019). They had gone to Sindhupalchowk district which is in the north-west side of Kathmandu Valley. The main objective of the camp was to help students situate the theories that they had studied in the classroom in a social setting and critically examine on whether and to what extent theoretical concepts are the reflections of social reality. Through proper planning and hard work of students as well as the faculty members, our objective of this camp has been met. The students had worked closely with teachers/ research supervisors in selecting theories and themes, elaborated the concepts, prepared checklist and questionnaire before heading towards the research camp. Now they will be sharing their filed survey findings, bring out their personal experiences of living in a village and give individual presentation based upon their research.
